Iðnmark ehf. history

Iðnmark ehf was establish January 15. 1988, by Dagbjartur Björnsson and his wife, Eyrún Sigurjónsdóttir. The popcorn was the first product that came on the market and was given the name Stjörnupopp. The Cheese popcorn came out at the same time and was totally new innovation on the Icelandic market.  

On September 1. the Light popcorn came out on the market. There is a constant increase in consumption of popcorn, since the Corn is a very good nutrition that contains fibers and are good for the digestion. In the year 1991 we started to look to the manufacturing process of the snack that we then marketed later that year. 

We buy all our ingredient from Europe, but the main secret is to have the right flavor and then it is the seasoning that is most important. All the wrappings of the popcorn and snack is made by Plastprent and Kassagerð Reykjavíkur.
